VoIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol, or in more common terms phone service over the Internet. With your high quality Infinity Broadband internet connection you can get phone service delivered through your internet (data) connection.
For your existing telephone handset to work, you will need an Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA). See image
The ATA allows you to connect a standard phone to your computer or your Internet connection for use with VoIP. The ATA is an analog-to-digital converter, which essentially converts traditional analog phone signals to data which is then transferred over the internet.
Please note: VoIP phone services cannot directly take advantage of the NBN Backup Battery power supply unit (PSU). In the event of a power outage, your phone service will not work.
